Rotor blades are safety-critical rotating components. After a strike, hard landing or unexplained vibration, disconnect and remove the flight battery before touching the rotor system. Replace a blade when its structural condition is uncertain; transmitter trim cannot correct mechanical damage.

Inspect the entire rotor system

Clean the blades and examine the leading edge, trailing edge, tip, root and mounting hole in strong light. Compare the two blades for shape, stiffness and visible deformation. Then inspect grips, fasteners, washers, linkages, rotor head, shafts, bearings and gears. A blade impact can damage more than the blade.

Replace rather than reuse when you find

  • A crack, split, deep nick or whitening around the root or mounting hole
  • Permanent warping, twisting or heat deformation
  • A loose insert or enlarged mounting hole
  • Damage that makes the two blades visibly different
  • An unknown blade history after a significant impact

Select the correct replacement set

Use the exact model code and manufacturer-supported part or variant. Match blade position, length, root thickness, mounting hole, material, orientation and matched-set requirements. Do not mix a new blade with an unrelated old blade simply because both fit the grip.

K170, C032 and C170 selection notes

  • K170: the current parts listing contains multiple K170-coded variants as well as codes for other model families. Confirm the code for your original blade set; do not treat every option on the page as K170-compatible.
  • C032: the listing uses SC400-series codes. Match the selectable code and product image to the original C032 component and manual.
  • C170: the Apache listing includes variants named “propeller” and “tail rotor.” Confirm which rotor position and color/version the selected option represents before ordering.

Removal and installation workflow

  1. Disconnect and remove the flight battery.
  2. Photograph blade orientation, markings, washers and fastener order.
  3. Support the rotor head without loading the linkages.
  4. Remove the blade hardware using the tool and method specified by the manual.
  5. Inspect grips, holes, shafts and adjacent parts before installing the replacement.
  6. Install the complete matched set in the correct position and orientation.
  7. Apply only the specified fastener tension and approved retaining method.
  8. Move the rotor through its intended range by hand with power disconnected.

Post-service check

Use a clear area and follow the manufacturer’s prescribed low-power procedure. Watch from a safe position for abnormal tracking, vibration, binding or sound. Stop immediately and disconnect power if anything is abnormal. Do not increase throttle to see whether a vibration disappears.
